Every generation on Supervivid can now be delivered in native 4K. The new Upscaler, rolling out to all plans this week, is a generative model in its own right — instead of stretching pixels, it re-synthesizes the fine detail that a higher resolution implies: fur becomes individual strands, distant windows gain frames, fabric gains weave.
Why “generative” matters
Classical upscaling is interpolation — educated guessing about what color a new pixel should be, based on its neighbors. It makes images bigger and slightly blurrier. A generative upscaler works differently: it understands what it is looking at, and adds the detail that should be there at the target resolution.
The practical consequence is that upscaled output does not look like an enlargement. A 1080p clip of a city street, taken to 4K, comes back with legible signage, defined brickwork, and individual leaves — detail that was plausibly implied by the original but never actually rendered. Faces stay faithful; identity is preserved rather than reinvented.
Built for the whole library
The Upscaler works on:
- Videos — anything generated on Supervivid, up to 4K at the original frame rate
- Images — up to 4x linear enlargement, capped at 8192px on the long edge
- Uploads — your own footage and photos, not just AI generations
That last point is worth underlining. Teams are already using it to rescue old campaign assets, sharpen phone footage for broadcast, and match archival material to modern deliverables. If it is in your library, it can be upscaled.
Details that survived our torture tests
We spent most of the development cycle on failure cases. Three we are proud of:
- Text. Signage and titles upscale without the melted-letter artifacts common in other tools. If text was legible at 1080p, it is crisp at 4K.
- Skin. No plastic smoothing. Pores and texture scale naturally, which matters enormously for talking-head and portrait work.
- Grain. Film grain and intentional noise are preserved as texture rather than “fixed” into sterility. Your color grade survives.
Pricing
Upscaling costs a flat credit fee per output — significantly less than regenerating at higher quality, and predictable regardless of scene complexity. Find it in the editor under any asset’s menu, or batch-upscale an entire project from the project page.
4K is no longer a premium deliverable. It is just the export button.
